If you just want to browse random channels, it is significantly more cumbersome. Twitch on my echo show 2nd gen has never worked. It always says "there's a problem connecting to twitch try again later" even though twitch works fine on other fire devices. Tried reset it and never worked. Was really great It's been years and this app still can't recognize any channels or game names. That's fair cause in gaming names are often times spelled weird, but what's the excuse for not giving us a keyboard.
If you aren't already following the stream you want to view you can't follow your own, so watching yourself to manage chat is almost useless don't even waste your time trying to find the stream. Also the UI is pretty awful.
Use any other app, like turning off a light, and you have to go through the entire application again. Which is at least 3 back and fourth questions with alexa.
Questions you definitely know the answer too. Since I am talking about UI, I am not even sure how this skill got approved. There are so many false exits and repeats that don't get you anywhere. After failing to grab a stream name, why does it just loop for the stream name?
Why doesn't it bring you to a menu to make sure you are asking for a stream and not a game. It's honestly a shame how bad this application still is. This Skill will let you watch live Twitch streams, but there is no chat functions at all. This Skill would be much better if you could use it for Twitch chat as well as Streams.
I am sure many streamers would consider Alexa for their dedicated Chat screen if it was an option. It is amazing now I can use streams as background noise without eating all the bandwidth. The best part is you can just say the number of the stream after all the channels you follow are listed because some channel names are really difficult to communicate to Alexa directly with all the underscores and such.
One suggestion - When notifications are pushed to Alexa read which game the streamer is currently streaming. SP Top Contributor: Pets. Works great. Gives audio of any Twitch channel. You can get a list of live channels you follow that are live to choose from, get a list of the most popular live playing a particular game, or just name a channel.
Probably does more, but I havent explored it fully. When using the Echo Show, it does not recognize streams that I follow who are currently live. I had two that were live streaming and Alexa just kept saying that no one I follow was currently streaming. I have tried syncing and re-syncing, but it does not work. But if I ask Alexa to show them using their name, the stream pops up. And trying to adjust anything within the Alexa app usually ends with the app freezing. I didn't give it a 1because at least I can see the streams by using their names, it is just inconvient.
